Hello, hello! I’m changing things up a bit this week. Normally I reserve Tuesdays for my random streams of consciousness, but since Amanda is test-driving her Thinking Out Loud link-up this week, I thought I’d join in. Link-ups are always fun—because who doesn’t like a virtual party on a work day?
1. I completely forgot to mention this last week, but I sold my first article through one of the freelance sights I joined. I’m $39.00 richer less poor. 🙂 Although it means I made more money, I’m a little bummed that it sold with “full rights,” since most likely nobody will ever know that I’m the one who wrote it (I’m essentially a ghost-writer).
2. Speaking of writing, I’m having quite the writer’s block lately (hence the sporadic posting—although I did put some thought into yesterday’s post). I have finally started reading again, though (for a while, I was plowing through a book every week or two). I just began Double Down: Game Change 2012. I enjoyed reading Game Change about the 2008 election, so this one should be interesting, too.
3. I haven’t baked anything since Thanksgiving, and I’m feeling the urge to get back in the kitchen. My problem? There are absolutely too many delectable recipes in my blog feed! Do I make Kylie’s gingerbread cookie dough cups, Gena’s mostly raw vegan gingersnaps, or Amanda’s very own gingerbread brownies? (I’m sensing a theme here with gingerbread!)
4. I know I’m late to this party, but I’m absolutely obsessed with Lorde. How is she only 17?!! Currently I’m listening to “Bravado” on repeat. A song about trying to overcome being extremely awkward and introverted = story of my life. I also really like “Buzzcut Season,” “Glory and Gore,” and “Ribs” (although a 17-year old lamenting about the fear of growing old makes me feel ancient!).
5. Speaking of music, does anybody else have that one song or album that you never tire of? Mine would have to be The Head and the Heart’s first (self-titled) album—it’s calming when I’m anxious, uplifting when I’m bummed out, and perfectly suitable for when I’m in a happy-go-lucky state of mind, too. I can listen to the entire album several times a day and never get sick of it.
6. I’m so excited that tomorrow is another Friday the 13th (they’ve historically been excellent days for me) and that it’s our company’s Christmas luncheon. The food leaves little to be desired, but it does mean one thing: Christmas bonus time (hopefully)!
7. Since I was incredibly sick last Christmas (the flu, probably) I’m taking extra special care of myself this month. I rarely get sick—and I think Bikram, probiotics, and my multi-vitamin help—but after feeling completely miserable last year, I’m not taking any chances! I’m eating fresh citrus like crazy, drinking water like a mad woman, and staying active. Crossing my fingers…
8. While it may not have any bearing on my health, I’m currently obsessed with The Fresh Market’s Peppermint Crème coffee. I imagine that it will be especially good with some Bailey’s in it, though I guess I’ll reserve that for the weekend instead of work mornings.
9. I’m sure most of you food bloggers are with me on this one—but I have never, ever thought of equating breakfast-for-dinner with shame! “Brinner” is one of the single greatest things in this world, am I right? I know in my house, we have some variation (usually involving eggs and bacon) at least once every couple of weeks—if not more frequently. Sure, they’re not always the most veggie-centric meals on the planet, but sometimes you just need syrupy, carb-y pancakes or a cheesy omelet!
10. On that last note, I’m hungry, so it’s time to wrap things up and put some food in my belly. Happy almost-Friday, guys!

So much to comment on — I don’t know where to start! Okay…
YES to brinner being one of the most fabulous things in the world. I have it at least once a week, and it’s probably the dinner I look forward to most. Breakfast for lunch is another thing I’m super fond of. And when it comes to figuring out what to bake, I don’t think you can go wrong with anything gingerbread — I’m currently obsessed with the stuff myself, and it’s not looking like it’s going away anytime soon.
Lorde. I couldn’t get into her Royals song, but I’m in LOVE with Bravado for pretty much the same reasons you are. Helloooo awkwardness.
Hope you’re having an awesome Thursday, girl! Stay healthy 😉

I think you’re right about gingerbread; ’tis the season after all (& I have a nearly-full jar of molasses that’s begging to be consumed).
I feel you on Royals. I did (& do still) like it, but it’s so overplayed I skip right over it on my ipod.
Hooray for awkwardness! 🙂
